"That Was the Worst Christmas Ever!" is the first music video I created in support of the 2023 "Untitled Christmas Album." project. I digitized and edited clips of home video footage together to accompany the song, but I wanted to create something more than just a sentimental montage. The video is framed through the whimsical, hopeful perspective of a child during the holiday season, where subtle glimpses of the realities of life peek through into a blissfully ignorant fantasy. It alludes to the inevitable loss of innocence that a child will face when growing into adulthood. I wanted to convey almost a sense of impending doom from growing up, alongside the expected bittersweet nostalgia and melancholia that comes with it upon reflection.
